Waste belongs to the category of the most difficult materials to be processed. With KAHL plants municipal and industrial waste can be transformed into valuable alternative fuels.

Seven million tons of municipal waste can be processed into about three million tons of alternative fuels with a caloric value of abt. 17,500 KJ/kg. They are used as an important energy source in the following sectors:

• Iron extraction
• Power stations
• Production of the synthesis gas methanol
• Cement industry

Fluff or pellets

Depending on the intended use, the residual waste is processed to fluff or to compacted pellets. KAHL customers rely on the well-proven flat die pelleting presses. Thanks to exchangeable dies and pan grinder rollers, different fractions can be processed, for example:

• Municipal waste and light fraction
• Mixed plastics
• Shredder light fraction from car recycling
• Reject of the paper industry
